AI-tools Policy

AI-Tools Policy

for Authors

Starting from Volume 2 Issue 2 (2026), authors are required to clearly state the use or non-use of AI-tools in their submitted manuscripts.

1. If Authors Do Not Use AI-Tools

If authors do not use any AI-tools in the preparation of the manuscript, they must include the following statement in their article:

“This article is the original work of the author(s) without using AI-tools for writing sentences and/or creating/editing tables and figures in this manuscript.”

2. If Authors Use AI-Tools

The Journal of Quranic Teaching and Learning strictly prohibits the use of generative AI or AI-tools to generate sentences, create images, or modify images in any form within the manuscript.

However, the use of AI-tools as part of the research process (e.g., for drawing insights from data analysis) is permitted, provided that such tools are not used to produce sentences, tables, or figures included in the manuscript.

AI-tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors, and must not be cited as authors.

If AI-tools are used, authors must:

  • Clearly state the purpose of using the AI-tool.

  • Mention the name of the AI-tool(s) used.

  • Declare that they have manually rechecked the accuracy and correctness of all data and language.

  • Confirm that the manuscript has been validated and verified by an English language expert (state the name of the expert or the institution).

Examples of permitted uses of AI-tools include:

  • Grammar checking (e.g., Grammarly, Hemingway App, Linguix, Reverso).

  • Improving coherence and readability (e.g., ChatGPT, Copy AI, Prosa.ai, Revoicer, QuillBot AI).

The checking and revision process must be conducted manually, as AI-generated outputs may contain overconfident, incomplete, incorrect, or biased statements. Authors are fully responsible and accountable for the entire content of their manuscript.

Example Statement

“The grammatical structure of this article was improved by using ChatGPT. The authors have rechecked the accuracy and correctness of the generated sentences in accordance with the topic and data of this study. The data and language use in this article have been validated and verified by an English language expert, and none of the AI-generated sentences are included in this article.”
